His family moved back to Santa Cruz when he was 14 and he became an avid surfer. Surfing became his life and slowly he drifted away from his close relationship with Jesus.
Sponsored by Rip Curl and Santa Cruz Surf Shop, he was traveling and competing all over California. This was the greatest life of a young surfer according to the culture.
However, at the age of 21, the drug infested surf scene became a dead end to him. Wanting a radical change in life, he joined the Army to try to become an Army Ranger. He made it into the elite 75th Rangers and learned how to be a man and a leader. He became a Sergeant in third Ranger Battalion, parachuted and led men through the Jungles of Panama, the freezing tundra of Canada and scorching deserts.
Near the end of his enlistment, he met his beautiful bride, Christina and they moved back to his home town of Santa Cruz. During this time, George’s priorities were family, work, and surfing but God was working on bringing him back to a close relationship.
After living in Washington for seven years, George’s dad invited him to the Northwest Men’s Conference at Calvary Fellowship. Wayne Taylor, Jon Courson and Greg Laurie were speaking. When Greg spoke about the prodigal son, and then gave the invitation for men to rededicate their life to the Lord, George stood up and prayed the prayer of rededication. Since then he has been on fire for the Lord.
George authored several books that derived from his sermons and teaching series such as: “Road to Emmaus”, “The Same Today” and “Tola’at Shani”.
He is serving as men’s conference leader and speaker as well as an elder at Dungeness Community Church.
George and his wife Christina are trusting in Jesus as they raise two awesome sons.
